![]() | These days, the only game I find time to play on any sort of regular basis is Magic: the Gathering once each week at Microsoft with co-workers and friends, plus the occasional weekend tournament. When I find the time, maybe I'll post some decklists here. We occasionally play various board games. Settlers is undoubtedly the most popular (and has been for years now), but other popular games among our play groups include Carcassonne, Survive!, and Pueblo. My XBox is moping in the corner, waiting for Halo 2 to come out already. I'm way behind on both XBox and PC video games (with a stack of both that I've not yet played). It would help if all my friends who play XBox weren't so busy too. For awhile there we played sixteen-player Halo in conference rooms at work on a weekly basis -- awesome! My college roommate was a Bridge champion, and so I've played a lot of wacky card games. Two of my favorites were "Barbu" and "Mitch". Mitch is great because it's fun even with just two players, and it scales up to any number of additional players (including five players, which is awkard for most other games). Barbu ... well, Barbu is typically a 2 or 3-hour game, not for the faint at heart. We always played it with eight contracts (including Ravage City and Fan Tan) and had a standing rule that it could only be started after midnight :-) |
